Abraham Peter Goodin was born in Alnwick, New Brunswick, Canada on 24 January 1897. His original French name was Pierre Abraham Godin, son of Richard and Marie Doiron Godin.

He immigrated to the United States and settled in Ashland, Maine where her met and married Bridget Ann Manuel on 16 Apr 1920. They had a daughter Mildred in 1920 and a son Albert Stanley in 1922. They moved to Bridgeport, Conn. and had a third child Theresa Mary in 1926. Bridget Ann contracted pneumonia and died a month after Theresa was born.

The following year Abe married Margaret Martin, a cousin and best friend of Bridget Ann. They had four children; Arthur, Lional, Louise and Clifford. In 1937, Margarets' sister died, her husband had died a few years before, they left four daughters. Abe and Margaret welcomed them into their home and brought them up as their children. They were Evelyn, Theresa, Norma and Irene Muise.

Abe went into business with a friend and opened a bar and grill on State Street in Bridgeport and worked there until he retired. He died in October in 1966. He is buried in Saint Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, Connecticut.
