CHARLES F. ASKEY DIES AT COLD STREAM
In the death Wednesday afternoon, January 15, at 4:15, of Charles Fister Askey, another victim is added to the long list of fatalities that have accompanied the scourge of influenza in Philipsburg and vicinity. Mr. Askey had been ill only a short time, having been stricken first with influenza. The disease developed into pneumonia and death occurred at his home in Cold Stream.
Born in Philipsburg on December 9, 1891, Mr. Askey was aged 37 years, 1 month and 7 days. He was a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Askey of Philipsburg. His parents, his wife, who was Miss Nellie Saint of this place, and three children, Charles, Luella and Morris, all at home, survive him, along with two brothers and one sister, namely William of Crickside, Indiana County; Forest of Philipsburg and Nannie, wife of Robert Moore of Philipsburg.
Mr. Askey was an industrious miner, quiet and unassuming in manner and esteemed by all who knew him. The sorrowing members of his family have the sympathy of the community.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. Charles F. Kulp of the Baptist Church will be held at the residence on Friday afternoon at 2:30, with interment in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
