Her parents were Andrew Douglas (1818-1879) and Elizabeth Fleming Craig (1829-1904). She married James Adam on Jan 1873. From her funeral card: Died, four miles northeast of Chester, Wednesday, April 28, 1875, Mrs. Mary J. Adam, wife of James P. Adam, and eldest daughter of Andrew Douglas, esq.

The friends and acquaintances of the family are respectfully invited to attend her funeral, from the residence of her husband, at 10 o'clock a.m., Friday, April 30. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, the funeral procession passing Mr. J. G. Middendorf's Store at 11:30 am. Rev. A. J. Clark is expected to officiate.

Note the use of Adam without an 's'.
