PASSED TO HER REWARD
Mrs. E. S. Goode, wife of George Goode, died at her home December 20, 1917, after a long illness of complicated diseases. Mrs. Goode had been sick for many years and unable to go from her room since June, but she bore her sickness cheerfully and very patiently. She was relieved of her suffering many times in answer to prayer. She talked to her loved ones and told them things she wanted done when she was gone, as though she was going on a few days' journey and would soon return. She said she was prepared to go and had no fear of death, except leaving her seventeen-year-old daughter, who cared for her so tenderly during her sickness. She was born Jan. 4, 1856 and was united in marriage to Mr. Goode, February 15, 1876. To this union were born eight children, five girls and three boys, one of whom died when small. She leaves a husband, one son, five daughters, eleven grandsons, thirteen granddaughters and a host of friends to mourn her loss. All the married children lived near her except one daughter, who lives in St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Goode was a member of the Christian church at Willow Springs, a little church three miles west of Hustonville. She was a good woman and loved by all. Rev. Baugh, pastor of the Hustonville church, conducted the funeral services at the home at 2:30 December 22nd. The remains were laid to rest in the family graveyard, one mile east of the home. Her son, John, died December 28, 1916, so it will be a sad Christmas for the Goode family to think one was taken away last year and another this year. The broken-hearted husband and only child at home, Miss Effie, have the sympathy of all the friends and relatives. We feel that our loss is her gain. - A Granddaughter, Lida M. Foley.
