Dimple Claudene (Davis) Schmidt passed away on Saturday,
Feb. 25, 2012 at the age of 95 at the Seasons Of Life Living Center in Syracuse, Kan. She was born on December 6, 1916 in Syracuse, the daughter of Howard M. Davis and Lillie P. (Hutchinson) Davis. Dimple was born on the old Davis homestead in the Bear Creek Community. She attended Coolidge High School in Coolidge, Kan. and graduated in 1935. After graduation she was a schoolteacher, teaching locally for a few years. On November 14, 1942, she married Raymond L. Schmidt in Scott City, Kan., and they made their home on a farm in Stanton County. To this union five children were born, RaeDene, David, Judy, Dale, and Derry Wayne. Dimple spent many years as farm wife taking care of her family and raising her children. In 1956, she and her family moved to Syracuse, where she became very involved with community activities, most importantly the United Methodist Church. In 2009, Dimple was forced to moved to the Seasons Of Life
Living Center due to her health, and resided there until her passing. Dimple was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Syracuse, she enjoyed giving speeches, to great enjoyment in playing the harmonica, music, sports, horses in her younger years, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, a son, Derry Wayne Schmidt; three brothers, Homer Davis, Delmont Davis and Ralph Davis; three sisters, Margaret Harper, Helen Patton, and Ruth Schmidt; a son-in-law, Alan Basinger; and a granddaughter; Wendy Owens. She is survived by two sons, David (& wife Connie) Schmidt of Manhattan, Kan. and Dale Schmidt of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, RaeDene Schmidt of Grand Junction, Colo. and Judy Owens of Huber Heights, Ohio; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012
at 10:00 AM (MST) at the First United Methodist Church,
Syracuse. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from
3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (MST) at Fellers Funeral Home, Syracuse.
