In 1846 Mr. Felt moved to Schoolcraft, Mich., where he lived until the fall of 1854, when he, with his family, come to Superior, and has lived here ever since with the exception of about five years spent in Anoka, Minn. He was among the first settlers in Superior and knew what the trials and hardship of pioneer life are by actually experiencing them. He has been much interested in the prosperity of our city and has done what he could for its advancement. For several years he held the office of Justice of the Peace. His life amongst us here was honorable and upright, and his habits strictly temperate and exemplary. His favorite occupation, was teaching vocal and instrumental music. He devoted much time to this work. Scarcely a year has passed in the last 30 years without his having a class. He was converted to God and joined the M. E. Church in his 17th year of age, and lived and died a faithful member of the church of his early choice. His last sickness was brief but very severe, at last, however, he passed away very quietly and peacefully we trust to that rest which remains for the people of God. Gravesite Details
I suggest anyone wishing to view the monument to hurry. Over the last few years the base has sunk dramatically and monument has tipped precariously. It will likely have fallen by the time anyone finds time to attend.
