WIFE OF RAY, BILL J
CPL US ARMY AIR FORCES

Ray, Nannette Clare

June 9, 1920 to February 26, 2013

Nannette "Nan" Ray passed away peacefully under Hospice care. Nan was born in Akron, Ohio and settled in San Diego in the mid 40's. Nan led a full life. She played the drums in nightclubs, and later in the church. Nan rode a moped outfitted like no one else. Nan was a wife to Jack, joined together in loving, spirited matrimony for 62 years. Nan was "Ma" to 6, "Nanna" to 14, "Great Grandnan" to 9 and counting...Nan had an unshakeable Catholic faith, coupled with her own ideas, and with the voice to back them up. She was a product of her times, yet she was way ahead of her time. Nan Ray was an original. To have known her was to laugh with her and at her, and she at herself. To have known her was to love her and remember her and grin at the memories. Nan is survived by children, Mike Ray, Bill Ray, David Ray, Nannette Fontana and Valerie Butcher. She was preceded in death by her son Chris who undoubtedly, is so excited to now have her company.
Services will be held at St. Vincent Church on March 4th at 11 am. Reception will follow at Nancy's home.
