Mr. Ralph Clarence Judd, 88, retired from Union Carbide, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his residence on North Bigby Drive.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Baxter, Tennessee in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Robert Fred Judd and Effie Leftwitch Judd and was a graduate of Baxter Seminary High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On August 9, 1943 he married Marie Thurman Judd who preceded him in death July 3, 1999. Mr. Judd loved staying busy. He worked part time at Yeager Automotive and also did Maintenance at Burger King. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Pat Craig and Mrs. Pam Stephens both of Columbia; grandchildren, Stacey (Ed) Willoughby, Brent (Stephanie) Watts, Kim (Donnie) Lockhart, Josh (Raven) Stephens, Jake Stephens, Jon Stephens; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lindsey of Sebastian, Florida.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Stephens, Jake Stephens, Brent Watts, Justin Watts, Cody Hight, Donnie Lockhart, Jr., Ed Willoughby, Jay Harman, Knox Hardison and Hunter Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers include Con Varalis, Elders and Deacons of Graymere Church of Christ, retired employees of Union Carbide, and coffee drinkers at Burger King.
