Blairite, 73, Widow of Soren C. Jensen, Early Blacksmith Here

Mrs. Helmina Jensen, 73, resident of Washington county all her life except for one year, died last night at Blair Hospital. She had become ill Monday night at her home on College Hill.
The body was removed to the Bendorf Funeral Home. Services had not been arranged at noon today.

Widow of Soren C. Jensen, long a blacksmith in Blair, she was the mother of a large family, most members of whom live in Blair and vicinity.

Born as Helmina Christensen Dec. 3, 1873, at Orum, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels P. Christensen, pioneers. She was married to Mr. Jensen Apr. 11, 1892. The couple farmed a year near Wayne, but otherwise had always lived in Blair. Mr. Jensen died 33 years ago.
Surviving Mrs. Jensen are three daughters, Mrs. Nels Sorensen (Amy) of Blair, Mrs. Walter Olsen (Anna) of Northwood, Ia., and Mrs. A.W. Raabe (Adena) of Omaha; and five sons, Oscar, Harold (Holly), John G. and Elmer Jensen, al l of Blair, and William Hansen of Orum. Two other children preceded her in death, a daughter in infancy, and a son Richard 17 year ago at the age of 22.

Other survivors include 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A brother, Thomas Christensen of Kimball, died 12 years ago.
