HALLOWELL - Ruth Mary (Kittredge) Pullen, 83, born Aug. 21, 1929, passed in her sleep on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center, after an accidental fall. Ruth was born in Hallowell, the daughter of Henry Kittredge and Lillian F. (Scates) Kittredge-Mooer. Ruth attended schools in Augusta and attended Williams School until eighth grade, and then at 60, she passed her high school equivalency test after attending night school at Cony High School, receiving her General Education Development diploma in September 1990. In that same week, she got her driver's license for the first time.

Ruth worked at a young age at "The Hallowell House, also known as Worster House," and later at Hazard Shoe, and Augusta Mental Health Institute.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Henry Kittredge and Lillian F. (Scates)-Mooer; late husband Robert Pullen; a grandchild, William Macomber; two brothers, Joseph Walter Kittredge and Kenneth Kittredge; and three sisters, Dorothy Pyska, Jane McPherson and Bertha Bollier.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Baker, of Almond, N.Y., and Shirley Isbister, of Windsor; her five daughters and four sons, Sandy Townsend and husband Richard, of Old Orchard Beach, Edward Vinton, of Randolph, Gloria Monterio, of New Bedford, Mass., Harold L. Norton and wife Jeannie, of Pittston, Dawn Magee and companion Maynard Wing, of Skowhegan, Richard Vinton and wife Cheryl, of Greene, Howard Vinton Jr. and wife Barbara, of Golf Port, Miss., Joy Hadsell and husband Randy, of Liberty, and Ella Plaisted and husband David, of Belgrade. She was blessed to have 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
