Goldie Mae Akers Null, 89, of Dupont City, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, after a short illness.
She was born August 16, 1923, daughter of the late Roy and Virginia Akers. A 1941 graduate of East Bank High School, she grew up in Ward, where she worked for many years at Valley Camp Coal Company, issuing scrip, and later as a clerk. Goldie also worked as a broker for the former Buckeye Savings and Loan Company, from which she retired. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church, Belle, where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James Homer Null; brother, James Akers; and sisters, Helen Tucker and Faye Johnson.

Surviving are her brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Jennie Akers of Dupont City, Roy Jr. and Brenda Akers of Charleston and Michael and Judy Akers of Dupont City; special niece, Addy Underwood and her husband, William; and great-nephews, Seth and Noah Underwood, with whom she made her home. Although she had no children of her own, she was active in the lives of her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Judson Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Bolen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Graveside service will follow at Ward Cemetery. Fidler and Frame Funeral Home, Belle, is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances can be made to Judson Baptist Church.
