Daniel J. Minix, 88 yrs., of Gibbstown. Daniel was born on September 3, 1924 to the late Randolph and Katherine (nee Keenan) Minix. He grew up in Billingsport.
Dan graduated from Paulsboro HS in 1942 and went into the Navy to serve his country. He was in Bainbridge, MD, then went to Little Creek, VA, then served on the USS Custer, and finally stationed at the Naval Base at Peleliu Island. He was awarded the American Area ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Area ribbon, and the WWII Victory medal.
He is a member of Gibbstown VFW and St. Clare of Assisi Parish. He worked at Mobil Oil for 42 years following his discharge. An avid gardener, Dan was an active member of the Woodbury Rose Society and the Mickleton Garden Club. Dan was instrumental in planting the oak trees that surround the Gibbstown football field.
Daniel is the beloved husband of the late Constance (nee Pickering); loving father of Daniel (Kathy), Douglas (Sue), Dennis (Karen), Thomas (Lydia Maide) Christopher (Donna) and the late Stephen; adoring grandfather of 13, great grandfather of 8; dear brother of Rudolph (Theresa), Ruth (Howard), William (Anna), Franklin (Carole) Robert (Joan), David (Anne), and the late Martha, John and Charles; dear brother-in-law of Ann Minix; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Funeral service will follow. Interment will follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
