ROSE HILL -- Olivette Eakins Blanchard, 91, of Rose Hill passed gently from her earthly home to her heavenly home on July 7, 2011.
She was born on June 11, 1920, in Pender County to Curtis and Edna Moore Eakins. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Frank Blanchard, and brothers, Earl and Theron Eakins and an infant brother.
Surviving her are a daughter, Catherine Register and husband, Lee, of Rose Hill and a son, Wyatt Blanchard and wife, Sandra, of Hampstead.
Grandchildren are Cathy Register, David Register and wife, Julie, all of Rose Hill; Holly Brown and husband, Michael, of Hampstead. Great-grandchildren are Audrey and Allison Register of Rose Hill and Sarah Elizabeth Moore of Hampstead. She also leaves behind devoted friends Joe and Edna Bass of Rose Hill.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, working in her flowers, painting and spending time with her family and friends.
The family will be at the Blanchard home at 1307 West Charity Road, Rose Hill. The celebration of her life will be at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Rose Hill on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. with the burial to follow at Rockfish Cemetery in Wallace.
Casket bearers will be Gary Bass, David Matthews, Kenny Hill, Trent Smith, Mike Teachey, Owen Rouse and Chris Blanchard.
