They joined Indian Hills Country Club in 1956. While there, Flo was a member of the Ladies 18 Hole Group for several decades. She and Bill both loved golf and also played together each Sunday in the couples golf group. Florine was an avid bridge player and was active in several bridge groups, along with being a contributor to Cystic Fibrosis and being in the Cystic Fibrosis bridge group. She was a caring mother and loving role model who also volunteered her time with Scout leadership. Her family and friends will remember "Flozie" as being a very kind and soft-spoken, gentle lady, always wanting to lend a helping hand to everyone in need. Until the last couple of months of her trials, she was still baking casseroles or cookies and sharing them with her loving friends and neighbors at The Villas of Grace Gardens. Helen Florine Jones was a true Christian with a strong faith and great love for family, friends and neighbors even more than herself. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was preceded in death by husband, C.W. "Bill" Jones and son, Mark A. Jones.
Until we all meet again, she leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jim Steele of Leawood, KS, a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kathy Jones of Overland Park, KS, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. A service will be held at the Leawood Baptist Church, 8200 State Line, Leawood, KS 66206 on Saturday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m., with a church reception following the service. A private family graveside service will be held. Contributions are suggested to the Leawood Baptist Church or to St. Lukes Hospice.
