She took a leave of absence from UND for the 1912-1913 school year and with her mother, Salome Williams, moved to the Lemke Land Colony in Concha Sinaloa, Mexico. After a year they were driven out by the Mexican Revolution and relocated to California - Mexico border where she fell ill with TB. She died during the 1918 flu epidemic. She never married.
