Marcia received a BA in 1898, MA in 1900 in French, German, and Chemistry from UND. She taught Chemistry at UND, was Curator of the University Museum and Assistant in Mining Research. She was active in pottery making and much of her work remains at the university.
She took a leave of absence from UND for the 1912-1913 school year and with her mother, Salome Williams, moved to the Lemke Land Colony in Concha Sinaloa, Mexico. After a year they were driven out by the Mexican Revolution and relocated to California - Mexico border where she fell ill with TB. She died during the 1918 flu epidemic. She never married.
