Edith was born February 1, 1933 in Granbury to Pete Allen and Nettie Copeland Allen. She was a resident of Granbury her entire life and graduated from Granbury High School in 1951. Edith retired from Montgomery Ward after 35 years as a bookkeeper. However, her family and friends know that her best work was accomplished after her official retirement, when she became the devoted caretaker for both of her parents, and by extension, her entire extended family. Edith spent her last year of life at the Arbor House in Weatherford under the loving care of the entire staff. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Alicia of the Arbor House. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors: Brothers, Lee Roy Allen and wife Earline, of Weatherford, Donald Ray Allen and wife Glenda, of Weatherford; her sisters, Carolyn Myres of Broussard, Louisiana, and Sandra Mason and husband Pete, of Aledo; 11 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and -nephews; and 19 great-great-nieces and -nephews.
