William "Bill" R. Silvers was born in a small mining town in Southeast Kansas, raised a family in Wichita, Kan., and retired to Grove, Okla. He served the as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1948-1951, and spent 13 months in Japan doing his duty for his country in the Korean War.

Bill was a dedicated family man who worked hard every day of his life. He spent his years after the war doing many things, including managing car dealerships in Newton and Wichita, Kan., managing finance companies in Oklahoma, and serving as a Bailiff for the Delaware County Courthouse in Jay, Okla. Bill was also the author of the book, "My Tour of Duty" which detailed his life in the Air Force.

For the past five years, Bill has been battling cancer and COPD. On Wednesday, September 11, 2012 he finally succumbed to his illness.

Bill is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Patricia Silvers, his sons, Ronnie Silvers, Kenny Silvers, Jeff Silvers, Kenneth Medlam, Kevin Medlam, his daughter, Debi Biggs, his sister, Louise Kovacic, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the Grand Savings Bank in Grove, Oklahoma.
