Edward W. Hines, age 90, of Florence, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at his residence after an extended illnessHe was a native of Florence and a member of Rogers Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Hines was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, where he served as a boatman's mate 1st class with the Seabees. He retired in 1967 from the U.S. Government at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Greenhill.Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Mike Butler.He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eddie Lipscomb Hines; sister, Clara Lanier; and brothers, Thomas and Samuel Hines.He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Gray Hines of Florence; daughter, Clara Hines Rodriguez of Florence; grandson, Edward Rodriguez and wife, Susan, of Ellicott City, Md; and a number of nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be B.A. Richardson, Larry Erwin, Dennis Wilson, Ed Rodriguez, Phil Davis and Larry Goins.The family would like to thank Mid South and Hospice of the Shoals for their exceptional care.Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing..
