My grandparents were told he would not live past the age of 12, but he lived to be 24 years old, due I'm sure to all the love and care he received from his parents, his two brothers, Virgil and Wesley, and his four sisters, Joyce, Viola (my mother), June and Jean.
Uncle Johnny had the mind of a genious, and had his body been more fully whole, who knows what he could have accomplished. He loved baseball and listened to every game he could on the radio. He knew all the teams, all the players, and all of each player's stats.
I was four years old when he died in the autumn of 1955, but I remember him well. I would entertain him by dancing for him, throwing pillows around, and because he had a speech defect, I did all the talking for us both. He called me "Little Big Mouth", which I now consider an endearing nickname!
He is buried in the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery between his parents. I have happy thoughts of him at this time, being strong and whole, and walking in Heaven.
At the time of his passing, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Bert, Jr.
God Bless you, dear Uncle Johnny.
I love you!
