Mary Louisa Reid was the daughter of Col. Saml McDowell Reid. Her childhood home at 208 W. Nelson Street in Lexington, is on the VA Register of Historic Places. She married James Jones White, the son of Dr. Wm S White, a Presbyterian minister.

They had the following known White children (all connected below):

They are on the 1860 to 1880 Lexington, VA census.

Both Mary and husband James have scholarships named after them at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA.

Her daughter Sallie wrote a book, published in about 1955 call Early Memories of Sallie White Bruce, Louisville, KY.

I also found a biography about her son in law, Joel Walker Winston Goldsby Biography and Genealogy, 1862-1937, Dallas County, Alabama.
