Pvt. Bratcher's Body Arrives Home Today
Funeral Services Tomorrow for Sloan Road Boy Killed in Germany
The body of Pvt. 1st Class Clifford Elmer Bratcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bratcher of Sloan road, arrived home this afternoon and was met at the train by a large delegation of Legionnaires and veterans as well as by townspeople and representatives of the town government.
Pvt. Brather who was wounded in action in Germany, died as a result of wounds March 2, 1945.
He was born in Williamstown and educated in the local schools being graduated from high school in 1941. He entered the service on Aug. 28, 1944. He arrived in England Feb. 6, 1945 and was in France Feb. 14 and arrived on German soil four days later. He was a member of General Patton's 3rd Army.
The body was taken to the Hopkin's funeral home where it will remain until funeral services tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Second Congregational church of South Williamstown. Burial will be in the family lot in Eastlawn cemetery. Rev. Horace Blackford, former pastor of the local church, but now pastor of the North Brookfield Congregational church will be the officiating clergyman.
