Ann Elizabeth Humphrey Gooch, age 92, of Tyler, Texas, previously of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Tyler, Texas.

Mrs. Gooch was born October 1, 1920 in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Henry Humphrey, editor of Texarkana Newspapers 1918-1945 and Louise Marcus Humphrey, a teacher and a scholar.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Dr. Charles V. Bintliff, Richard H. French and John H. Gooch III, a son, Charles Henry Bintliff and a grandson, Matthew Pearson.

She attended Patty Hill School and Texarkana, Texas public schools. She received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1941. Mrs. Gooch established an architectural practice in Texarkana in 1951 which later became Bintliff, Bell and Holderness, Architects. She retired in 1987 having practiced for 46 years. She was a member Emeritus of the American Institute of Architects, secretary-treasurer, and director of the Northeast Texas Chapter, AIA, a member and director of the Texas Society of Architects, a member of Texarkana, Texas Building Standards Board of Appeals, a member of Texarkana, Texas Historic Landmark Preservation Commission and a member of the Texarkana, Texas Building Standards Commission.

She was president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Bowie-Miller County Medical Society, president of the Women of the Church (St. James Episcopal ), board member of The Junior League of Texarkana, board member, treasurer and president of the Board of Trustees at St. James Day School. Her memberships include St. James Episcopal Church, Prayer Book Society of the Episcopal Church, Episcopal Synod of America, Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, board member of B.O.N.D., Four States Fair, TRAHC, Texarkana Museum Systems and Historical Society, Texarkana Country Club, Republican Women of Texas, the Heritage Foundation, and United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann-Louise and Dr. Peter J. Wiles; one son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Janice Bintliff; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; she also shared her life and love with four French step children and their families and seven Gooch step children and their families.

Graveside services will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
