Mary Edith Bloomer, age 88, of Sparta, passed away in her home on Friday, May 20, 2005. She was born March 10, 1917, near Sparta, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Loveland) Bledsoe. On May 18, 1935, she and Oren Bloomer were united in marriage.

Mrs. Boomer was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime member of Sparta Church of Christ.

Survivors include three children, Nellie Ann Speak, Sparta, O. Franklin Bloomer and his wife, Letha Rae, Sparta, and Mary Jo Cox and her husband, Dwight, Ozark; 12 grandchildren, Raymond Speak, Cheryl Friend and husband, Mark, Teresa Jones and husband, Rick, Melinda Jester and husband, Terry, Taye Verfurth and husband, Jerry, Trent Bloomer, Twyla Collins, Renee Newman, Gregg Cox and wife, Kathy, Shelly Hughes and husband, Wayne, Amy Knight and husband, Jeff, and Colby Cox and wife, Stacy; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Oren, in 2000; two sisters, Elsie Miller and Mabel Roller; a brother, Frank Bledsoe; and her parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Community Hospices, Dr. Mangum and his nurse, Carolyn, for their loving care.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today in the Sparta Church of Christ with Greeley Kirkpatrick and Ted Spencer officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospices of America, or Fair Haven Children's Home, in care of Adams Funeral Home, 504 W. Walnut, Ozark, MO 65721.
