Edith Lilly (McPherson) Snowden, 97, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005, in Christian Health Care of Nixa. Edith was born July 7, 1907, in Bradleyville, Mo., to Elijah T. and Rebecca Jane (Clark) Morris McPherson. She was united in marriage to Jewell Snowden on September 22, 1933, with three children born to the union. She attended State Teachers College in Springfield and subsequently taught school at Bradleyville and was a homemaker. In 1944 the family moved to Forsyth where she sold Avon products, worked for Owen Merchantile and enjoyed attending auctions. Upon Jewell's retirement, they purchased a home near Springfield where they resided until moving to Creekside Crossing. Some of her favorite activities were collecting dolls and framing pictures to sell at her flea market. She also enjoyed caring for her flower garden and watching the L.A. Lakers. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Jewell; a son-in-law Bob Wantuck; a brother, Ralph McPherson; a sister, Gladys Norman; five half siblings, Luther, Sylvia, Garland, Harrison and William Morris; seven step siblings, Mary, Enos, Sarah, Rodila, Alta, John T "Bud", and Laura McPherson. She is survived by a daughter, Lela Jane Wantuck and friend, Bob Umphres, Springfield; two sons, Ralph Jewell and wife, Naomi, Springfield, and Charles Franklin, Branson; grandchildren, Pam, Shane, Steve, Jeff and Shauna and great-grandsons, Jonathan and Emerson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to nieces Charlotte, Becky and Carolene, for their frequent visits and support. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Cedar Valley Cemetery under the direction of Whelchel Funeral Chapel. Friends may call in the funeral home in Branson, from 1 to 5 p.m. today.
