Mickey passed away peacefully on May 2, 2013, in a Tyler hospital. She was born on May 27, 1925, in Palm Beach County, Fla., to the late Pete and Verna Mae Adams.
Her working years were spent serving the employees of Western Foundry and Kelly-Springfield in Tyler as an occupational nurse. She also spent 20 years operating a daycare, Playtime Nursery, at 625 N. Glenwood, providing a loving and nurturing environment for many children. Until her health prevented her from regular attendance, she made First Christian Church her home of religious worship.
Mickey was truly devoted to family and friends, always available to help in any way she was needed. Having always put the needs of others above her own, we now take time to honor her life and the special person that she was to so many. Her gentle spirit and willingness to give to others will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, LeRoy Cotton and Ron Gomer; children, Charles L. Cotton and Sherry D. McGonegal.
Survivors include her son, Spencer Cotton, of Tyler; and daughter, Bonnie Scheibe, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Angela Jennings, of Tyler, Spencer Cotton II, of Seattle, Wash., Joseph L. Cotton, of San Antonio, and Nicole Scheibe, of California; great-grandchildren, Ashley Seabolt, Sherry Chamberlain, Michael Jennings Jr. and Marlainia Jennings.
The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013.
