BURLINGTON - Mrs. Clara Mae Walker Phillips, 85, formerly of Wicker Street, Burlington died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 following several years of declining health at Alamance Health Care Center where she had been a resident for three years.
A native of Burlington, she was the daughter of Joel Teed Walker and Mattie Clapp Walker, both deceased. She was a former textile worker. Clara was a charter member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and a member of the Ladies' Bible Circle.
Survivors include four children, Tim Phillips and wife Carol of Haw River, Vickie Lewis and husband David of Rockwell, Janie Humphries and husband Mike of Liberty and Neil Phillips and wife Pamela of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Joel W. Walker of Graham and Harvey A. Walker of Greensboro; two sisters, Linda Peele of Greenville, NC and Nancy Fogleman of Graham; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Tim Robinson and the Rev. Bryan Gregory. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of a daughter, Janie Humphries, 3429 NC 62, Liberty, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
