He was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Nottawa Township of St. Joseph County, a son of Melvin and Flora (LANCE) DeHOFF.
A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he was assigned to the 93 rd AAA Gunnery Batallion.
On May 16, 1959, he married Regina Gutowski. She died Feb. 1, 1993. He was employed for many years at the LA Darling Company in Bronson, until the company moved. Then he worked at the Holbrook-Patterson Company in Coldwater until his recent illness. He also farmed the family farm.
He was a Bronson area resident most of his life and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Janice) MYERS of Athens and Melissa DeHOFF of Bronson; one son, David POPE of Battle Creek; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Mildred BRAIME of LaGrange, Ind., Beulah BRANDT of Ionia, Mary BARNHART and Flossie SOPER, both of Colon, Helen TODD of Sturgis, Dorothy BRINKMAN and Margie KINYON, both of Coldwater, and Irma HOARD of Bronson.
Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson, where services are at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Debra Valentine officiating. Burial will be in Matteson Township Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the Bronson Post of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
Memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurses of Branch County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
