Gladys Adeline Braaten was born in Bend, Oregon on Sept. 5, 1926, and was raised there by her parents, Selmer and Amelia Braaten. She married Aldwin A. "Stubby" Ellis on March 21, 1946 in his hometown, York, Nebraska. The couple moved to North Bend, Oregon that same year.
The family moved to Portland in 1947. In later years there were moves to Gresham, Canby and Oregon City. Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her son, Corp Aldwin Ardean "Sparky" Ellis Jr., who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1967 and her husband, who died in 1991.
Mrs. Ellis died in Portland care center of complications arising from emphysema. She was 65 years old.
