Michael Stautner, aged 68 years of Butler succumbed to a heart ailment at the Waukesha Hospital, on Thursday morning, December 30th. He had been in ill health for the past two weeks and was taken to the hospital a day before his death.
Mr. Stautner was born in Bavaria, Germany coming to this country when still a young man. He was one of the first of his group of friends and relatives from there to come to this country, the others coming soon after his settling in Milwaukee. He and his group were the organizers of the Gesang Verein Bavaria and Bavarian Benevolent Society. His first line of endeavor in Milwaukee was that of blacksmithing, later being a tavern keeper. His later years were spent in Lannon, Hartford and Butler. His wife, the late Anna Becker Stautner, preceded him in death two years ago.
Surviving him are his sons, Michael and Herman of Neshkoro; Frank, Lannon; Joseph, Butler and John; his daughter, Mrs. Anna Schneider, Lannon; Mrs Mary De Quardo and Margaret Stautner; also eighteen grandchildren; brothers and sisters in Germany.
Funeral services were held Monday January 3rd at 10 a.m. at the Froemming Funeral home Milwaukee with the Rev. Kemp of St. Agnes church, Butler officiating. Burial was at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
