Nadine Neugent, 93, a longtime resident of Austin who for many years was a fixture as manager of senior citizens centers in the city, died on Christmas Eve 2006.
She was born January 22, 1913 to Angeline and George Threet, a farming family in Sherman, TX.
She played forward on the girls basketball team at Sherman High School and she fondly recalled being in the state playoffs at Texas Tech in Lubbock.
She married the late Hubert Neugent in 1930 and the marriage lasted 67 years until his death in l997.
The couple had four children, Ms. Dolores Dove of Austin; Kenneth Neugent of Granite Shoals, TX; Mrs. Linda Tomlin of Reserve, NM; Dwayne Neugent preceded his mother in death. She is survived by a large number of grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren
During her life the family operated a grocery store in Brownfield, TX and later had family grocery in Fort Worth. She was later a top sales representative in Irving, TX.
The family came to Austin in l975 and she touched the lives of many of the citys senior citizens as manager of senior facilities. After her retirement she continued to take part in senior activities and was well known to the domino players and at senior center dances.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX. Burial will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
