Albert William Elandt was born on January 19, 1938, in Marion, Wisconsin, to Albert and Margaret. He grew up there with his siblings: Catherine (who tragically died as a child), Ed and Daniel. He married Yvonne 'Blondie' Mortenson on August 30, 1958. In 1960's Al witnessed the inauguration of JFK, the Cuban Missle Crisis and the assassination of President Kennedy. Al was inducted into the Marion Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005. The couple had five children: Brenda, Catherine, Kevin, Scott and Bradley. He died on May 2, 2012, in Appleton, Wisconsin, at the age of 74, and was buried in his hometown on St. Mary's Cemetery.
