Retired from Harbison-Walker Refractories
Charles T. Brechbiel, 92, formerly of Mapleton, R.D., died at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon.
Born Dec. 18, 1906, in Greencastle, R.D., he was the son of the late David and Effie (Wellech) Brechbiel. He was united in marriage to Zola V. Varner Nov. 22, 1928, in Cumberland, Md. Mrs. Brechbiel preceded him in death April 16, 1998.
Surviving are three children: Velma Hardy and Duane Brechbiel, both of Mapleton, R.D.; and Joyce Ford, Saltillo. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Brechbiel is survived by a sister, Rhoda Wolford, and a brother, David Brechbiel, both of Greencastle.
Eight brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, Mapleton, R.D., where he was a trustee, deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 40 years.
During his life, Mr. Brechbiel was employed by Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union, for over 43 years, retiring in 1971. He was also a farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Been Run Church of the Brethren, Mapleton, R.D., with the Rev. David Ortt officiating. Interment will be made in the Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, R.D.
Friends may call at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, R.D. 1, Mapleton, Pa. 17052.
