Mary Ann (Skidmore) Douglass Bolian, 85, of Parkersburg went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 27, 2008. She was born in Parkersburg, WV. on January 8, 1923, the 9th of 14 children born to the late George and Bessie Gillespie Skidmore.

She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a member of the Excelsior Sunday School Class and Miriam Fountain Circle at Emmanuel. Mary enlisted in the WAVES in 1943 and was stationed at the U.S.Naval Hospital at Treasure Island, CA, after training. She was a Pharmacist Mate First Class when she was discharged from the WAVES.

After the war, she attended Ohio State University for one year before marrying Paul C. Douglass in 1947. They were married for nearly 41 years before his death. Mary retired in 1982 after many years from the Bureau of Public Debt.

Mary married Sam Bolian on September 17, 1994. Mary is survived by her husband: Sam Bolian, Parkersburg, daughter, Paula (Bob) Hamm, Massillion, Ohio, granddaughter, Gretchen Douglass, West Hollywood, CA; grandson, Benjamin (Ashley) Hamm, Mt. Olive, AL; brother, John (Billie) Skidmore, El Paso, TX; sister-in-law, Roberta Skidmore, brother-in-law, Morris (Buck) Muntz;step-son, Joe (Brenda) Bolian; step-granddaughters, Kristen Bolian (Amanda Hudnall) and Jennifer Bolian, many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog companions, Cindy and Vicky.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul C. Douglass, five brothers, Paul Skidmore, Aaron Skidmore, David Skidmore, George Skidmore and Herbert Harlan Skidmore, seven sisters, Mildred Haines, LuLu Reynolds, Isa Smith, Grace Hedrick, Ruby Richards, Betty Dawson and Bonnie Muntz.

Mary was a loving and compassionate woman and especially enjoyed being Gretchen and Ben's grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services 10:30 AM Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. William Thomas and Reverend David Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cairo, WV. Visitation Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Memorial contrbutions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1710 23rd Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
