WHITE HALL - Ruth Williams, 78, of White Hall died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 22, 1926, in Roodhouse, the daughter of Delos and Nellie Steelman Akers. She married Robert McCarthy in 1946. She later married Sam Williams in 1971 in White Hall; he died in 1995.
Mrs. Williams worked at Alexander's Shoe Store and Brown's Shoe Store, both in White Hall, for many years. She was a member of White Hall First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She and her husband also conducted church services at the nursing home in White Hall.
Survivors: two sons, John (wife, Cheryl) McCarthy of Tacoma, Wash., and Ron (wife, Brenda) McCarthy of Virginia; daughter, Cheryl McCarthy of Roodhouse; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, White Hall. Burial: Williams-Edwards Cemetery, near Roodhouse.
