Mr. James Harper Andrews, age 95, of Deepstep, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 21st, at 2:00 p.m. at the Deepstep United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Larry Giles, Rev. Rick Holt and Rev. Griffin Thompson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Al Andrews, Al Denton, Ted Dennard, Tim Massengale, Scott Ramsey, Eugene Griswell, Tommy Andrews and Paul Pennington. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deepstep United Methodist Men's Group.

Mr. Andrews was born in Deepstep the son of the late John Robert Andrews and the late Lola Veal Andrews. He was a longtime dairyman and farmer and the former co-owner of the Green Acres Farm in Deepstep. Mr. Andrews was a member of the Deepstep United Methodist Church and active with the United Methodist Men. He was a former Deepstep City Councilman and an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Mr. Andrews is predeceased by his wife, Willie Jewell Massengale Andrews.

Survivors are: his son, James W. "Jimmy" Andrews and his wife Sara of Sandersville; grandchildren, Chris Andrews and his wife Susan of Savannah and Stacey A. Brown and her husband Bert of Tennille; one great-grandson Andrew Preston McNeely; and his sister Betty A. Welch of Augusta.

The family will be at the residence of Sara and Jimmy Andrews on West Church Street in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
