Born in Kansas, Clarence moved to Shell Rock, Iowa in 1907 with his parents.
He was a graduate of Shell Rock High School and Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa.
He had been employed by Construction Machinery Co. for 41 years as a treasurer.

Married Nellie Bly Moseley, 8 Sept. 1925. One son Richard was born to this marriage.

Poe was a member of the board of Trustees of the First Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, and an active member in the National Assn. of Cost Accountants.
He died at home after a lengthy illness of Hodgkins Disease.

Surviving at the time of his death were his wife, son, one sister and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Services were from the First Methodist Church.
