Esther Arlene (Wright) Ray, 88, was born October 1, 1924 in Springfield, MA and died April 18, 2013 in Tomball, TX.

Esther was a 1941 graduate of Pembroke Academy and a member of the girls' basketball team that won league title.

In addition to Suncook, Esther also lived in Keene, Manchester, CT., and Andover, CT. When she retired, she enjoyed winters at her home in Ft. Pierce, FL, but also continued to spend her summers in Newport. She moved to Hot Springs, AR and finally to Tomball, TX where she spent her last years.

Esther retired from the University of Connecticut where she was an executive secretary. She was involved in the Women's groups of the Methodist Church in Suncook and in Manchester, CT and in the Congregational Church in Andover.

She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and sister. Esther spent time with all her children in their extracurricular activities and was loved by all her grandchildren and by many others who knew her. She loved sports, travel and life. She visited countries in Europe and South America, Canada and Mexico and cruised to many Islands. She visited all the states in the United States except for North and South Dakota.

"I have had a very happy, very full life. I've been gifted with a wonderful childhood, a loving husband and family and many, many loving, enduring, lifelong friends and a good life in the summers of New Hampshire. My last stop will be meeting our Good Lord and my family and friends upstairs. My prayers are with you always, until we meet at last."

Esther is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Celia (Muir) Wright; her husband, James A. Ray; her son, James A. Ray, Jr; her sister Marilyn Wright Pierce; two nieces, Robin Edmonds Miller and Marilyn Pierce; and 2 great grandchildren.

Gravesite services will be held in the Head Cemetery in Hooksett.
