Following graduation in 1976, Dean worked for the Climax Molybdenum Company. He was married and had a son. The marriage ended in a divorce. He moved to Plano, Texas, where he worked and met his second wife. They were married May 23, 1992, in Dexter, Mower, Minnesota. He brought another child into the world in Texas though not married to the mother. He and his wife moved from Texas to Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, in 1993. He lived the rest of his life in that general area. He was the father of three children with his wife. He had a relationship with another woman and had a son with her. He had two grandchildren.
He was employed by Viracon in Owatonna for the past 20 years. He supplemented income by working at the convenience store. He was a member of the Cedar River Church of Christ in Austin. He enjoyed playing cards, juggling, horse shoes, bean bag, golfing and bowling. He especially loved spending time with his family and close friends. Dean will be remembered as an avid Buffalo Bills fan, performing card tricks and telling jokes. Dean was a risk taker, he didn't like sitting at home reading books, he wanted to be involved in lives.
Dean had gone to dinner at a Mexican restaurant on Friday, April 26, 2013. He began sweating profusely and vomiting. He refused to go to the emergency room, and went home to bed. He experienced a heart attack that they were unable to save him from. He was in Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. He was 54 years old at the time of death.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Private family memorial services were held in September. The Worlein – Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie assisted the family with arrangements. His body was cremated. He leaves a hole in many hearts with his passing
