Thelma "Mimi" Vannoy Minter, 85, widow of Colie H. Minter of Beckley, and Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004. She was born Oct. 8, 1917, at Sullivan, the daughter of the late William Roe Vannoy and Leota Wyatt Vannoy. Mrs. Minter had been a longtime resident of Beckley, where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Beckley College. Thelma was an active member of Beckley Presbyterian Church, Phymosia Garden Club, Beckley Woman's Club and Black Knight Country Club. Upon Mr. Minter's retirement, Colie and Thelma moved to Arcadian II, Myrtle Beach. Thelma was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, where she served as elder and was an active member of the hand bell choir. Following the death of her husband, Thelma remained in Myrtle Beach until six years ago when she moved to Richmond Place Retirement Community in Lexington, Ky., where she resided until shortly before her death. During her years in Lexington, Thelma was an associate member of Second Presbyterian Church and an active volunteer at local hospitals. She is survived by two sons, Thomas D. Minter and wife, Carolyn, and Michael Minter and wife, Elizabeth, all of Lexington; her daughter and son-in-law, Colette Minter Meadows and husband, Frank, of Flat Top; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pearl Day Room at Richmond Place. Expressions of sympathy may be made to donors' church of choice.
