According to her obit, she was born in Sneen, County Kerry, Ireland.
Married Daniel Sweeney in Boston, Massachusetts. Soon after there marriage they came to Morgan County, IL.
They had five children: Miles, Daniel, Jeremiah, Mary, and Annie.
Her son, Miles Sweeney at the age of 12, left Jacksonville with the 101st Illinois Volunteers, and hasn't been seen since. Her son, Captain Daniel E. Sweeney, was associated with the Russell Brothers; Jeremiah Sweeney was a merchant policeman; daughters: Mrs. Jeremiah (Mary) Mahoney of Peoria and Mrs. Michael (Annie) Mahoney of Jacksonville.
Also survived by one sister, Mrs. Julia Sullivan of Chicago.
