Officer of the Continental Army
Captain-Lieutenant of Colonel John Patton's Regiment which served 11 Jan 1777 to 13 Jan 1779. Promoted Captain 10 Jun 1778. Captain of New 11th PA Regiment from Patton's transferred to 3rd PA Regiment 17 Jan 1781. He was one of the original members of the PA branch of the Society of the Cincinnati.

The record of the only soldier named Abraham Claypole, under any spelling, found in the Revolutionary War records of this office which follows:

The Revolutionary War records of this office show that Warrent No. 414, for three hundred acres of bounty land, was issued May 3 1795 on account of the services of Abraham G. Claypole, as Captain in the Pennsylvania Line, War of the Revolution.

This office has no record of statements made in the application for bounty land, because of the destruction of papers in such early applications when the War Office was burned in 1800, therefore, no further date relative to Abraham G. Claypole.

Lieut David Chambers Claypoole--Mr. Claypoole was married three times: 1st,___; 2ndly,___; 3dly, Sarah___who died April 20, 1848, aged fifty-nine years.

He had thirteen children, and survived his last wife and all his children, dying March 9, 1849, aged ninety-two; is buried in the Rockhill vault, St. Stephen's Church, Philadelphia, with his third wife Sarah, his children George and Mary, and his brother Abraham George Claypoole.
