Mrs. Matilda Edlund, 74, widow of John A. Edlund, Cortland manufacturer, died early this, morning at the Ver Nooy Sanitarium after a four year period of failing health. She was born December 2, 1871 in Halmstead, Sweden, the daughter of Christian and Christine Borgeson. She has been a resident of Cortland for the past 30 years and was a member of the First Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Christine Stratum of Buffalo, Mrs. Genevieb Stevralla and Mrs. Elsie Healey both of Cortland; also two sons, Gustaf Edlund of California, Henry K. Edlund of Detroit, and John Edlund, jr., of Cortland. Another son, Carl A. Edlund died in 1940. Also surviving are one sister, Miss Ida Borgeson of Sweden; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 8 o'clock from the Beard Memorial Home with Dr. Philip S. Nason, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the memorial home Saturday evening from 7 to 9.
