She was born into a French-Canadian family, and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1931. Louise worked from the time she graduated and was married to Alpha J. Coulombe on February 22, 1941. Their oldest child was born the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor. During WWII she worked in the War Industry while Alpha was in the service. Louise also worked for the Welfare Department and co-owned a knitting store with her sister Natalie. She served the Haverhill School System as a bookkeeper for 22 years, retiring to Albuquerque in 1972. Beginning in 1984 Louise was a craft teacher in knitting and crocheting, under the Adult Basic Education program, at Santa Domingo Pueblo for one day a week. She was a formidable woman, leaving a powerful example for her family.
