Arizona Freeman-Hopkins was born at home in Leflore County, Oklahoma on April 2, 1928. She passed away August 3, 2012 at Parkview Health Care Facility in Bolivar. "Zona" was one of ten children born to Willard and Emma Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Hopkins, her parents, and five siblings.
On November 18, 1944 she married Lee Hopkins in Wister, Oklahoma.
She is survived by their four children: Janice L. & her husband, Gary Griffin: Corliss & her husband, David Rivera of Camp Vedie, Arizona: Gwen C. & her husband Steven Mierua of Bolivar: Randall & his wife, Linda, of Stockton; eight grandchildren: Kary, Marcia, Sherry, Timothy Griffin: Marshall Wilson: Jennifer, Jeremy Jenkins; Tyler Hopkins: twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Zona and Lee moved to Stockton where he had a growing business. She stayed very busy with maintaining the home, lots of sewing, making quilts, painting with different types of mediums, knitting, crocheting, gardening, she loved to grow all types of flowers inside and outside of the home. You name the plant, she could tell you how to grow it. When it came to cooking, her apple pie was must at all family gatherings. Just ask her grandson, Tyler. I still can hear Mom singing while hanging the laundry out. We miss you Mom.
Services will be Wednesday, august 8th at 6:00 P.M. with a visitation to follow till 7.
