Esther Viola Hubbard

Esther Viola Hubbard, 74, a retired school teacher, died March 10, 1998, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. She was born in Morton County, Kan., June 22, 1923, to Linwood Clyde and Viola C. (Milburn) Hubbard. She is survived by a sister, Virginia Cox of Colorado Springs and a brother, James Hubbard of Guyman, Okla., and western Kansas. Miss Hubbard grew up on the family homestead in western Kansas and graduated from Rural High School in 1942 in Hugoton, Kan. She earned her bachelor's degree in 1951 at the University of Colorado-Boulder and her master's degree from Colorado State College of Education in 1957 in Greeley, Colo. Miss Hubbard devoted her life to her Christian beliefs, the church, the community and the generations of school children she shepherded on their life's journey. Miss Hubbard taught school for more than 32 years. She spent two summers as a missionary in Central America. After her retirement, she continued her community service at the Bible Hall (Salon Biblico) and the Senior Center in eastern Pueblo. The funeral service will be held at Adrian Comer Funeral Home, 2710 N. Elizabeth, Pueblo, Colo., on March 13, 1998 at 11 a.m. Burial and graveside services will be immediately following the memorial service at Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs, 1000 S. 26th St. Visitation at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday. In keeping with Miss Hubbard's ideals, the family asks that memorial contributions, either monetary or more importantly, time, be made to your religious or community organization.
