Lois L. Hodson, age 78, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, Apr. 18,2013 at Henry County Hospital. She was born Jan. 11,1935 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Ivan and Susan (Shepard) Hodson.

A graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed studies for her Doctorate in English Literature at Indiana University. She taught high school at Hackettstown, NJ. Lois loved all animals, especially cats and appreciated the beauty of nature.

Survivors include her sisters, Elaine (husband, Jack H.) Bledsoe of Dayton, OH and Marsha (husband, Chuck) Essigs of Scottsdale, AZ; nephews and nieces, Greg C. (wife, Tamra) Bledsoe of Juno, AZ, Alicia K. Bledsoe of Queen Creek, AZ, Jeff (wife, Sara) Ellis of Phoenix, AZ, and Julia Ellis of Phoenix, AZ; a very dear friend, Martha York of New Castle and special helper, George Wilkinson of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Hugh Edward Hodson.

A private graveside service will be held at Circle Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
