Rev. Jimmy "Jim" Brewer

Rev. Jimmy "Jim" Brewer, 59, of Wes Brewer Rd., Newland, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 in an Asheville hospital.

A native of Aflex, KY, he was a son of the late Kenneth James Brewer and Etta Moody Brewer.

Rev. Brewer was the minister of Forest Home Community Church in Newland, was the founder of Brewer Excavating Company, and served as the Chaplain of the Newland Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed working with heavy equipment, motorcycles, and could make anyone feel like they had known him for years, just by talking with them.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Ann Nelson Brewer; brothers, Charles E. Brewer, Richard R. Brewer, Robert R. Brewer; sisters, Juanita Cuthbertson, Iva Lee Rains.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Phyllis Clark Brewer of the home; daughter, Misty Brewer of Newland; sons, Jim Jim Brewer of Newland, Robert Brewer of Newland, Richard Brewer, and his wife, Michelle, of Newland, Brian Brewer of Newland; step-daughter, Cindy Erwin, and her husband, Terry, of Minneapolis; step-sons, Scotty McKinney, and his wife, Erica, of Minneapolis, J.R. McKinney, and his fiancé, Krista Wright, of Elk Park; Brothers, Roy Brewer of Newland, Kenneth Brewer, Jr. of Newland; sisters, Pricilla Waycaster of Newland, Barbara Styles of Spruce Pine; twenty one grandchildren.

Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.
