Mary was the daughter of Joseph Henry Knight and Mary A. Shoaff. She married William Henry Bowers on July 4, 1900 in Mahoning Co., OH. He died in 1935. She remarried Robert Lumley in 1936. He died in 1962.

William and Mary Bowers were the parents of eleven children:

Mrs. Mary A. Lumley

LEESBURG -- Mrs. Mary Alice Bowers Lumley, 92, of Volant RD 1, died at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday in Mercer County Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Wampum on Dec. 4, 1882, to the late Joseph and Mary A. Shoaff Knight.

Mrs. Lunley attended the Church of God of Prophesy at Leesburg.

She was married first in 1900 to William Bowers who preceded her in death and in 1936, she married Robert Lumley who died in 1962.

She is survived by three daughters, Mr. A. W. (Sally) Colnot of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. H. H. [sic] (Mary) Sharp of Poland, Ohio, and Mrs. Harry (Helen) Flick of Butler; five sons, Earl Bowers of New Wilmington, Harry Bowers of New Castle, Kenneth Bowers of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas Bowers of Mercer, and Leroy Bowers of Volant RD 1; a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Dunn of Negley, Ohio; 37 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, William Bowers, Joseph Bowers and John Bowers, and several brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received at the Grace Cunningham Smith Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday. The service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. C. L. Crenshaw of the church. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery.
