Jolene was the daughter of Thomas Watson and Irene Mildred Bays Brown. She married J. M. Sanford in 1984. She worked for General Motors on the assembly line and was a member of Lingleville Baptist Church. Prior to living in Lingleville Jolene lived in Atlanta, Georgia for 30 years.

M. of Lingleville, three sons, Britt Jennings of Birmingham, Alabama, Wade Jennings of Stephenville, Texas, Phillip Jennings of Celina, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Michael Jennings, Casey Jennings, Brittany Jennings and Logan Jennings; great grandchild, J.J. Dayberry; one brother, Herbert Brown of Lingleville and one sister, Donna Smithwick of Krum, Texas.
