Margie Dee Mathis Talley, 70, died on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in a Chattanooga hospital following an extended illness.
She was a native of Polk County, TN, born May 4, 1934, and had spent the past 45 years in Signal Mountain. Mrs. Talley was an ordained minister in the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Talley; and her parents, Henry and Pearl Ballew Mathis.
She is survived by her daughter and son-and-law, Susan and Gary Howard, of Chattanooga; two grandsons and their spouses, Gabriel and Laquadda Howard, of Chattanooga, and Adam and Angie Howard, of East Ridge; one great-grandson, Joshua Howard; two sisters, Alpha Whitmire, of Signal Mountain, and Allene Cummings, of Benton, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton with her pastor, Harley Morrison, and the Rev. James Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service.
Her family will receive friends all day Thursday until 8 p.m.
